Fresh Pet Dog Grooming Academy is own and operated by Fresh Pet Dog Grooming, LLC.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
- Basic dog grooming: You will learn all the tools of the trade. How to properly handle clippers, and the different size blades. You will also learn to properly handle and use scissors and how to use comb attachments.
- Learning to groom all the breeds that are available
BASIC DOG GROOMING COURSE OUTLINE

CLASS SCHEDULE:
Tuesday-Saturday: 8 am - 5:00 pm
- Each day consists of two 15 minute breaks and a half hour lunch.
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older or have parent/ guardian’s signature.
- Applicants must possess a valid ID
- Applicants must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Applicants must have a personal interview with school personnel.
- Applicants must be drug free other than prescription medications prescribed by a medical doctor.
STANDARDS FOR SATISFACTORY PROGRESS:
One hundred percent attendance and completion of all test at an eighty percent (80%) level is required for satisfactory progress
All students must pass the written test and have at least an average score (75%) to receive their certification. Any student with a lower score must repeat the test until the receive the average grade.
Final grades are issued at the end of the course:
A- Superior (100-90)
B-Good (89-80)
C-Average (79-70)
D- Below Average (69-60)
F- Failed (64 and below)
PROBATIONARY PERIOD
If a student is not showing progress by week 4 or grades are below 75%, the student can be terminated from the academy.
STUDENT CONDUCT AND CONDITION FOR DISMISSAL:
All students are expected to act in a mature and considerate manner in all functions in the school.
The following may result in disciplinary action to include suspension or dismissal from the training program:
- Vandalism
- Gambling
- Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages/ Drugs
- Possession of weapons and firearms
- Smoking in non-designated areas
- Physical abuse or harassment
- Improper handling of animals
- Stealing- will result in prosecution
- Profane/ abusive language
- Poor attitude
- Animal mistreatment

ENROLLMENT DATES:
A student must be registered no later than five (5) days before the start of classes.
SCHOOL CALENDAR:
Our academy operates on a non-traditional term. We do not utilize the conventional academic calendar of quarters and semesters. This course is a total of 400 hours and will last for 10 weeks.
The following holidays are observed and no classes will be held:
- New Year’s Eve (Dec 31-Jan3)
- The Day After Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- The Day After Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day and the Day After
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Dec 25-30
The school has the right to amend the calendar, as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools. Fresh Pet Dog Grooming Academy has the right to close at the discretion of the instructor, this could be due to inclement weather or less than 5 dogs to groom. This time will be made up at the end of the course.
LEAVE, ABSENCES, TARDINESS AND MAKE-UP OF MISSED WORK:
Leave: Students must request leave in writing 24 hours prior to the leave date. Leave will be approved or disapproved by the instructor.
Absences and Make-up of Missed Work: Under special circumstances if a student is sick or needs to miss class, a student must notify the instructor within two (2) hours prior to class start time. If the absence is approved by instructor student may not be penalized. A student has the option to make-up the work that he/she missed for up to three (3) days after the absence. After the three days the student loses the opportunity to make it up.
Tardiness: Students are expected to be punctual and attend all scheduled classes. Class begins at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Dogs are scheduled per student and are the responsibility of the student. Dogs can not go home not groomed.
CANCELLATION AND SETTLEMENT POLICY:
Rejection: An applicant rejected by the school shall be entitled to a refund of all monies paid (minus any stated application fee, not to exceed $25.00)
Three Day Cancellation: All monies paid by an applicant will be refunded if requested within 72 hours after signing an enrollment agreement and making an initial payment.
Other Cancellation: An applicant subsequently requesting cancellation shall be entitled to a refund of all monies paid minus registration fee of 15% of the contract price of the course, but in no event may the school retain more than $150.00 . Cancellation must be made by certified mail. If the cancellation is not done thru certified mail, there will be a $25.00 penalty.
REFUND POLICY:
Termination Date: The termination date for refund computation purposes is the last date of actual attendance by the student. Fresh Pet Dog Grooming Academy requires notice of cancellation or withdrawal to be given by certified mail. Fresh Pet Dog Grooming requires that notice be made by parent or guardian if the student under the age of 18.
(1)-First week: For a student terminating training after entering school and starting the course of training but within the first week, the tuition refunded to the student will be 90% of the contract price of the course minus $150.00 but in no event shall more than $350.00 be deducted from the original contract price.
(2)-After first week: For a student terminating training after one week but within the first 25% of the course, the tuition refunded shall be 75% of the contract price of the course minus $150.00.
(3)-After 25%: For a student terminating training after competing over 25% but within 50% of the course, the tuition refund shall be 50% of the contract price of the course minus $150.00.
(4)- After 50%: A student completing more than 50% of the course is not entitled to a refund of any tuition.
(5)- Thirty Day Refund: Any monies due the student shall be refunded within thirty (30) days from the Termination Date. If a student does not return from a school approved leave of absence the date of return becomes the Termination Date and the Thirty (30) Day Refund period begins.
(6)-Special Conditions and Cases: In case of student prolonged illness or accident, death in the family, or other circumstances that make it impractical to complete the course, the school shall make a settlement which is reasonable and fair to both. This settlement will be prorated.
(7)-Discontinued Class: If a class is discontinued by a school while students are still enrolled in the that class, and the school is still offering training in other areas, all monies (student loan, grant, and etc.) paid to the school for students enrolled in the class at the time it is discontinued shall be refunded to the entity legally entitled to the refund. The school shall have 30 days to restart the class or pay the refund.
(8)- Extra Expenses: Items of extra expense to the student such as housing, board, instructional supplies or equipment, tools, student activities, laboratory fees, service charges, rentals, deposits and all other extra charges need not be considered in tuition refund computations provided they are separately shown in the enrollment agreement and catalog.
COMPLAINT AND/OR GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE:
All student complaints should be first directed to the school personnel involved. If no resolution is forthcoming, a written complaint shall be submitted to the director of the school.

Hours consist of both hands-on grooming and theory.

- Instructional Tuition Fee: $2700

Textbook: All Breed Dog Grooming, TFH Publications--1987 (included in the total tuition and fees).
